Director of Communications

Humanity United

Michele Demers is the director of communications at Humanity United, a social investment organization working to end slavery and mass atrocities through a portfolio of investments targeted to testing and

integrating different approaches to high-level advocacy, grassroots

social movements and field-based research.  Founded in 2005 by

Pam Omidyar, Humanity United is dedicated to deepening the

collective awareness of mass atrocities and slavery, pursuing

systemic changes to address the root causes of these issues and

achieve lasting impact.

Prior to joining Humanity United, Demers founded and managed 

Tattersall Consulting, a strategic planning and communications firm

in New York serving non-profits and foundations.  In the past, she has 

held management posts at Demos and Human Rights Watch. She   

currently serves on the National Governing Board of Common Cause.

Demers holds a B.A. in Political Science from Pennsylvania State

University and an M.A. in International Relations and International

Communications from Boston University.
